Glasson Dock towards Cockerham via Cockersand Abbey
We will meet at Conder Green car park at 10.30 SD447560. Bring change for car parking. £1.00 all day.
DISTANCE 6.75 miles
TERRAIN We follow the Lancashire Coastal Way south to Cockersand Abbey that rivals York Minster for iconic architecture and majesty…well, almost!. We continue towards Cockerham reaching Hillam, then heading north across several fields, possibly muddy, depending on weather conditions reaching Kendal Hill, which isn’t much of a hill in all honesty. Pretty flat actually. We then head up the track to Old Glasson and back. This walk is easy however the distance might test slightly unfit or inexperienced walkers.
Gaiters and walking poles are advisable if wet. The going underfoot may be slippery in places and a crossing of Janson Pool in the first mile may need a certain agility swinging on a gate if the crossing is flooded.
There may be some fields with cattle and calves so owners of dogs on the walk must ensure they keep their dog under control and know what to do if a situation arises regarding feisty cattle.
