Next Sundays Walk 22 May 2022

Another excellent walk was undertaken yesterday, led by Viv. The walk started at Beetham and went through Dallam Park to the shore then along the shore to Arnside. From Arnside the walk took us to the Fairy Steps before returning to the car. The weather was glorious and hot and after a refreshing drink at the Barn at the Corn Mill we all wended our way home. Thanks Viv for another really good walk.

Next Weeks walk is led by myself and is

Flookburgh – Cark – Flookburgh  7 miles Easy

Start Time is 10.00am (allow 45 mins to an hour to get there)

The walk starts in the small village of Flookburgh. To arrive in Flookburgh head for Grange and then follow the signs for Flookburgh from there. Once in Flookburgh turn left at village centre by the monument and follow the road until you reach a car park on the right hand side near a childrens playground.

From the car park the walk heads south to join the Cumbrian Way after about a mile. Here and for the next one and a half miles, some excellent salt marsh can be seen on the left with lots of birds feeding on it such as egret, redshank and greenshank, curlew, cormorant and many other species. The next mile or so takes you along the coast with some excellent views across Cartmel Sands and Ulverston, after which we enter the pretty village of Cark.

Leaving Cark we have a short walk up a road with excellent views before following a path through fields and woodland before descending back into Cark. Finally the walk heads south, back to the village of Flookburgh.

The plan then is to go from Flookburgh back to Holker Hall for coffee and cake and weather permitting see the deer park.

To book you place on the walk contact Paul on 07887667290 or [email protected] before 8.00pm on Friday 20 May 2022.

Walk limited to 18 people.

Booking is ESSENTIAL. You must book directly with the leader (usually by 8.00 pm on the Friday prior to the walk) as once the walk is fully booked there will be a waiting list. Also if you turn up on the day without booking you will be refused on the walk. If you have booked on a walk and find you are unable to attend please let the walk leader know as soon as possible so that the place is available to someone else.

We are trying to car share as much as possible, both to conserve fuel and because there is often limited parking at the start of a walk.  See Lancaster Walking Group WhatsApp group either to offer a lift, or to see if a lift is available for that walk.
