Barbon & Casterton Round 6.5 miles Easy
Negligible Ascent and mainly farm fields and small tracks with a small amount of road walking. There are a handful of easy stiles but it can be muddy underfoot after rain.
Start Time 10.00am from the Village Hall in Barbon.( from Devils Bridge at Kirkby Lonsdale follow signs on A683 to Sedbergh) after half a mile Barbon is signposted on the right, village hall is on the left. Car Park has a donation box.
However we must warn any kite pilots/flyers that Kite flying is not allowed from the car park which is disappointing for all you Top Gun wannabes but if you feel like being a Maverick it’s on your head.
The walk is varied and lovely walk out of Barbon via fields and a smidgeon of Roman Road, coffee break and lunch beside the Lune and tea and cake after at Barbon old post office a few yards right of the the Village Hall.

Booking is ESSENTIAL. You must book directly with the leader (usually by 8.00 pm on the Friday prior to the walk) as once the walk is fully booked there will be a waiting list. Also if you turn up on the day without booking you will be refused on the walk. If you have booked on a walk and find you are unable to attend please let the walk leader know as soon as possible so that the place is available to someone else.
We are trying to car share as much as possible, both to conserve fuel and because there is often limited parking at the start of a walk. See Lancaster Walking Group WhatsApp group, either to offer a lift, or to see if a lift is available for that walk.
